David Ostrem :
Double Bass
The son of a doctor and a music teacher, David Ostrem has studied music since early childhood. Beginning with the piano in first grade, he began a musical path that would lead to the electric and upright basses which became the focus of his studies. Along the way, other instruments, including the trumpet, trombone, violin, cello, clarinet and guitar, were added to his catalog throughout his years of formal schooling. He studied music education at New York University and graduated with a Bachelor's in Music. Performance has always been his primary interest and since graduating, he has been active in many different music scenes in New York. He plays bass and sings in several rock bands that range from singer/songwriter to barbershop trio to alternative/funk to heavy metal. Despite his musical diversity, jazz remains his true passion. David is never involved in any less than ten bands at one time and enjoys playing music as a full-time job.
